Police operatives in Kogi have confirmed the recovery of the corpse of photojournalist Ayo Aiyepeku, allegedly murdered by correctional officer Oluwapelumi Adebayo in Lokoja last Sunday.

Police spokesman William Aya said the decomposing body was found Sunday evening in a bush near the JAMB office in Zone 8 after residents raised an alarm over a foul odour. The body was deposited at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, and a discreet investigation is ongoing.

Governor Usman Ododo has assured the public that justice will be served, directing security agencies to conduct a thorough probe. “The perpetrators of this heinous act will not go unpunished,” said Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information.

The family of the deceased, including his brother Timothy Aiyepeku and uncle Ibikunle Jide, has appealed for justice.

Recall Aiyepeku was murdered last Tuesday. His killer allegedly stored the body in a freezer before dumping it in Zone 8, where it was later found.
