Talks about Kwankwaso moving to the APC only exist on social media
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed rumours that its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NNPP National Vice Chairman (South-East), Prince Nweze Onu, said the speculation was fueled by misinformation on social media. “Talks about Kwankwaso moving to the APC only exist on social media,” Onu said, warning about the dangers of AI and political misinformation.
He denied political motives behind Kwankwaso’s meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa on July 21, stating, “He only went there for a programme.”
However, Kwankwaso told reporters that the meeting “centred on politics and governance,” and he “might work with Tinubu.”
Onu defended Kwankwaso’s criticism of Tinubu’s administration, saying, “Somebody must make the president realise what he’s doing.”
He confirmed Kwankwaso will contest in 2027: “He is good to go.” Onu also accused APC of desperation, claiming, “Their attempt to do too much is what is pushing them into depression.”
