Bandits who attacked CAC Eruku in Kwara State have demanded N100 million per abducted worshipper.

Bandits who abducted 38 worshippers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have demanded N100 million ransom for each abductee, according to BLUEPRINT. The gunmen were said to have stormed the church during a Tuesday service on November 18, killing five members before whisking away the others.

A community leader and Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, told Blueprint that four of his relatives were among the kidnapped victims. He said the abductors had begun contacting families and grouping the victims according to their relations. Olukotun, who was in the church with five of his family members when the attack occurred, recalled escaping with one of his wards through a window at about 6:06 p.m.

“Some people in the community have received calls from the kidnappers demanding N100m for each person but as regard my own people I have not received any call concerning them,” he said, adding that he was still waiting for communication from the abductors.

The community remains tense as families brace for further contact from the kidnappers.
