“Our government is not treating us, the federal government workers, well,” the statement read. “We are really very disappointed in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This regime is becoming more and more repressive and suppressive.”
Labour leaders have criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, calling it “repressive, suppressive, and a disappointment” over the treatment of federal workers.
In a joint statement issued in Ibadan, the National Coordinator of the Federal Workers’ Forum (FWF), Andrew Emelieze; FWF National Secretary, Itoro Obong; and Publicity Secretary, Razaq Yakubu Oseni, condemned the government’s failure to pay outstanding wage awards.
“Our government is not treating us, the federal government workers, well,” the statement read. “We are really very disappointed in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This regime is becoming more and more repressive and suppressive.”
They decried delays in the N35,000 wage award and demanded immediate payment of arrears, including allowances and salaries owed since 2024.
“We are citizens, we are not slaves,” they said, vowing that workers in Abuja would resume at the Federal Ministry of Finance on May 26 and continue until all demands are met.
“If on Wednesday, 28th May, we are not answered, let protest resume in all federal government secretariats nationwide indefinitely until we are paid,” they added.
