“There shall be primary elections in the Labour Party, and no aspirant will be favored this time around,” Arabambi stated.
The Labour Party (LP) says its 2027 presidential ticket is open to all aspirants, declaring that no politician will be favoured in the primaries.
LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, announced this at a Friday press briefing in Abuja.
“There shall be primary elections in the Labour Party, and no aspirant will be favored this time around,” Arabambi stated.
He described Peter Obi’s 2023 selection as “a blunder with lasting consequences,” insisting the party must correct its mistake.
Arabambi also dismissed Obi’s new alliance under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a “Yahoo Yahoo coalition” that brought hardship to Nigerians between 2015 and 2023.
“We wish Obi well in that ungodly coalition… Nigerians are in fact wishing him well in that ungodly coalition,” he said.
He emphasised LP’s commitment to internal democracy, warning that the 2027 election “must not repeat this error” of picking a populist “whose greatest skill is telling people what they want to hear.”
