The race to succeed Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2027 is gaining momentum, with Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, emerging as a top contender.
Backed by influential figures like lawmaker Desmond Elliot, supporters cite his legislative expertise and executive experience as assets. “Gbajabiamila is seasoned. That’s the leadership Lagos needs,” said APC chieftain Famous Oloyede.
However, critics argue the 64-year-old may be too old for the role, urging a shift to younger candidates from underrepresented districts.

Meanwhile, Epe stakeholders are pushing for political rebalancing, reviving calls for regional equity.
As jostling intensifies, the APC faces a delicate balancing act between experience and generational/geographical representation.
