Heavy rainfall on Tuesday left Lagos residents and motorists stranded as flash floods submerged major roads, triggering massive gridlock across the city.

The early morning downpour disrupted business activities, while several vehicles broke down on waterlogged roads. Areas worst hit include Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, Obalende, and Funsho Williams Avenue, extending to Ikorodu Road, Ikeja, Maryland, Oshodi, and Apapa.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) had forecast widespread thunderstorms and urged residents to take safety precautions, including avoiding travel during heavy rain. Farmers were also advised against applying fertilisers before rainfall to prevent nutrient loss.
