“Sexual offences against children represent a grave violation of trust and cause profound harm to victims, their families, and the wider community,” said Justice Rahman Oshodi.

A Lagos resident, Nnanna Daniel, has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl. The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court delivered the judgment after Daniel pleaded guilty to an amended charge of attempted sexual assault by penetration.

Initially arraigned on July 27, 2021, for defilement, Daniel had pleaded not guilty. However, during court proceedings on April 15, 2025, Prosecutor I.D. Solarin revealed that Daniel had entered a plea and sentence agreement through his counsel, S.N. Nwogu, prompting the amendment of the charge.

“Sexual offences against children represent a grave violation of trust and cause profound harm to victims, their families, and the wider community,” said Justice Rahman Oshodi.

The judge sentenced Daniel, with the term starting from his remand date, May 18, 2018. He is barred from contacting the victim or her family.
