The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder of The Turn of Mercy Church, for allegedly masterminding cannabis shipments from Ghana to Nigeria.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, founder of The Turn of Mercy Church in Lagos, for allegedly orchestrating cross-border cannabis smuggling.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, at his church in Okun Ajah, Lekki, after months on the run. Officers reportedly waited until he concluded service before making the arrest.

According to Babafemi, Olasele fled to Ghana after evading arrest twice following the seizure of two cannabis consignments — 200kg on June 4 and 700kg on July 6 — both linked to him. He allegedly admitted transporting the drugs via waterways.

The NDLEA also announced multiple raids in Lagos, Nasarawa, Kano, Gombe, and Edo, recovering large quantities of cannabis, opioids, and other substances, with several suspects in custody.

Chairman Buba Marwa commended the officers involved, urging continued vigilance in the fight against drug abuse.
