The death of Mrs Adebimpe Akintola, Council Manager of Coker Aguda LCDA, marks the fifth female council official to die in Lagos within two months.

The Lagos State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been thrown into mourning following the death of another female local government official, the fifth in two months.

Mrs Adebimpe Akintola, Council Manager of Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Chairman of the Forum of Council Managers, died on Monday, September 29, after a brief illness.

Confirming her passing, the forum said: “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of our Chairman, Mrs Adebimpe Akintola, on Monday, September 29, 2025. She served as the Council Manager of Coker/Aguda LCDA until her death.”

Her Janazah prayer will be held Tuesday, September 30, at Al Kitab Mosque, Eleshin, with burial at Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara.

Akintola’s death follows the recent losses of four other female council officials across Lagos since August, raising concerns over the string of tragedies within the state’s local government system.
