Terrorists believed to be members of the Lakurawa group have issued a chilling warning to farmers in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State, threatening execution for anyone who adopts mechanised farming methods.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama said the threat has sparked panic in the affected villages, where residents are now pleading for intervention from the military and government.

“Now, the terrorists are dictating how we should farm, forbidding us from adopting modern farming methods that replace traditional farming with tools tied to cattle,” a local source said.

Residents say their cattle are often rustled, and switching to mechanised tools was their only alternative. But the terrorists have banned it, making both options dangerous.

An intelligence source confirmed that villages received the threats, with a warning that violators would face severe consequences.

Kebbi Police spokesman Nafiu Abubakar said, “I will find out about the development.”

In April, 13 vigilantes were killed in nearby Morai during a clash with the same group.
