Lamine Yamal’s father has condemned the Ballon d’Or outcome, claiming his son was the true best player despite Ousmane Dembele’s 2025 win.

Mounir Nasraoui, father of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, has criticised Ousmane Dembele’s victory at the 2025 Ballon d’Or, insisting his son deserved the award.

France Football named France international Dembele as winner on Monday, citing his role in Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League triumph and domestic success. Yamal, 18, finished second, while PSG midfielder Vitinha took third.

Despite being in only his second full senior season, Yamal recorded 18 goals and 25 assists, helping Barcelona secure La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

Speaking on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, Nasraoui said: “He [Yamal] is the greatest. I’m not going to say theft, but rather moral damage to a human being. Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world by far… We have to say that something strange has happened here. Next year it’s ours. Next year the Ballon d’Or will be Spanish.”
