LAGOS — The Lagos State Government has declared 176 estates in Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe illegal, giving their owners 21 days to obtain layout approvals from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The estates, published in an official document yesterday, were flagged for operating without approved layouts. Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Oluwole Sotire, said the move was to safeguard the government’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda.

“The illegal estates compromised the sustainable development ethos and the T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda of the government by operating without approved layouts,” Sotire said.

Some of the affected estates include Adron Homes, Elerangbe; Aina Gold Estate, Okun-Folu; Diamond Estate, Eputu; Prime Water View Garden, Ikate-Elegushi; and Royal View Estate, Ikota.

Sotire urged owners to submit required documents at the Ministry’s Alausa Secretariat and called on developers to register with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA).

He stressed that the exercise was a routine function aimed at fostering a functional, organised, and resilient smart city.
