The Lagos State University (LASU) has overtaken the University of Ilorin as the most preferred institution for admission in Nigeria, according to recent data from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This marks a significant shift in student enrolment trends, driven by LASU’s improved infrastructure, campus facilities, and administrative efficiency. Officials attribute the rise to targeted reforms initiated by the university’s management over the past two years.
A spokesperson for LASU, Mr. Adekunle, remarked, “Our commitment to modernising lecture halls, expanding hostel capacity, and enhancing ICT centres has significantly boosted our appeal to candidates.” Meanwhile, education analysts note that LASU’s proactive approach contrasts with limited development at other state universities.
