Lauretta Onochie accuses Tinubu of running Nigeria like a private WhatsApp group

Former Buhari aide Lauretta Onochie has criticised President Tinubu for failing to appoint ambassadors, likening his governance to a private WhatsApp group.

Lauretta Onochie, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of running Nigeria like a private WhatsApp group.

In a post on X, Onochie decried Tinubu’s failure to appoint ambassadors nearly two years into his administration. “A strategist who doesn’t know that Nigeria needs Ambassadors… is running Nigeria like a private WhatsApp group,” she wrote.

She said Nigeria’s foreign missions have lacked substantive heads since Tinubu dismissed envoys in September 2023, weakening the country’s global diplomatic presence.

Onochie alleged the president is only focused on countries like St. Lucia and Kazakhstan, “where he can be idolised and worshipped for the right price,” adding that his governance benefits only cronies, with institutions like the National Assembly and Judiciary sidelined.
