Actress Bimbo Akintola has urged Nigerians to embrace polygamy while calling for better upbringing of male children to curb infidelity.
Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has sparked renewed controversy over marriage traditions with her stance on polygamy. Speaking on the latest episode of the Talk to B podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, she argued that current realities make polygamous arrangements practical.
“People should embrace it because your sister must marry somebody… if we don’t have enough men, does that not make two women to one man?” she said. She added that polygamy remains part of Nigerian culture, recalling that many in her generation grew up in homes with “two or three wives.”
However, she stressed that the long-term solution lies in raising morally grounded men. “Raise your sons properly… teach your sons that their body is the temple of God,” she advised, noting that society often places such expectations only on girls.
Akintola further stated that many marriages break down after childbirth because “children change everything,” insisting that both genders suffer in dysfunctional unions.
