BARCELONA, April 20, 2025 — FC Barcelona has confirmed that striker Robert Lewandowski has suffered an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh, part of the hamstring group. The injury was sustained during Barcelona’s thrilling 4–3 victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday, April 19th, in what was Lewandowski’s 100th La Liga appearance.
Lewandowski was forced off in the 78th minute after appearing to clutch his leg in discomfort, prompting immediate concern from fans and coaching staff. The club released a statement on Sunday confirming the nature of the injury, noting that his return to action “will be determined by his progress.”
Although Barcelona has not provided an official recovery timeline, several leading Spanish media outlets report that the 35-year-old forward is expected to be out for approximately three weeks.
The timing of the injury is a significant setback for the Catalan club as they enter a critical stretch of the season. Lewandowski will miss next weekend’s Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, as well as La Liga fixtures against Mallorca and Real Valladolid.
