The Lagos State Government has identified 176 illegal estates across the state, particularly in Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe, for operating without required layout approvals. The Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has given developers 21 days to comply or face enforcement. The move is part of efforts to promote sustainable urban planning under the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda.
The Lagos State Government has declared 176 estates illegal for operating without mandatory layout approvals. In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development issued a 21-day ultimatum to developers, warning of potential sanctions including site closures and prosecution.
“These approvals are essential for sustainable planning in Lagos,” said Permanent Secretary Oluwole Sotire, who urged all developers to register with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA). He stressed that non-compliance violates the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda for orderly urban development.
Most affected estates are located in Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe. The announcement follows a state-wide audit to curb illegal developments contributing to issues like flooding and poor infrastructure.
Some listed estates include:
- Adron Homes, Elerangbe
- Aina Gold Estate, Okun-Folu
- Diamond Estate, Eputu
- Prime Water View Garden, Ikate-Elegushi
- Royal View Estate, Ikota…
