Liverpool have completed the £29.5m signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen, hours after confirming Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Real Madrid move.

Liverpool have completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5m on a five-year deal.

The Dutch international joins just hours after Liverpool confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid, with Frimpong expected to fill the right-back role in Arne Slot’s squad.

Frimpong, 24, had a standout season with Leverkusen, helping the club win their first Bundesliga title in 2023–24 and finishing second in 2024–25. He made 53 appearances across all competitions last season.

“Frimpong is an exciting signing and strengthens our defensive and attacking options on the right flank,” a club source said.

He will compete with Northern Ireland international Conor Bradley, who recently signed a new four-year deal.

Frimpong came through Manchester City’s youth system, joined Celtic in 2019, and moved to Leverkusen in 2021. At Anfield, he joins fellow Dutchmen Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in advanced talks with Leverkusen over a £109m deal for Germany star Florian Wirtz.
