EFF leader Julius Malema has urged Africa’s unification under a single presidency, currency, and military command, stressing that Nigeria and South Africa must lead the push for continental transformation.
South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, has called for Africa’s unification under a single president, parliament, military command, and currency.
Speaking on Sunday at the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference in Enugu, attended by thousands of lawyers and dignitaries, Malema urged African leaders to dismantle colonial boundaries and embrace a borderless continent.
“We demand one Africa, we demand a borderless Africa, we demand an Africa with one president, one currency, one military command, with one parliament,” Malema declared. He argued that a unified African currency “will be much stronger against the American currency,” stressing that Africans must “refuse to be subjects of others.”
Rejecting the label of Africa as a “dark continent,” Malema said Africa was endowed with resources to drive prosperity. He also demanded visa-free movement across the continent and warned against reckless borrowing from international lenders, urging Nigeria and South Africa to provide leadership for Africa’s industrialisation.
