A Canadian man has sued his ex-girlfriend after she allegedly vanished with his £3million lottery winnings.
Lawrence Campbell bought the winning ticket in 2024 but couldn’t claim the prize due to ID issues. He authorised his then-girlfriend, Krystal McKay, to collect it, trusting her completely in what he described as a “loyal, committed and promising romantic partnership.”
Campbell said he let McKay deposit the money in her account, as he lacked a bank account. Shortly after collecting the prize, McKay allegedly disappeared. “She ghosted him… blocked him and even took out a protection order,” Campbell’s lawyer told CTV News.
McKay denies all accusations and plans to respond in court. The lawsuit also blames the lottery corporation for failing to warn Campbell about potential risks. “This case is about systemic karma versus the system,” his lawyer added.
