A man set his ex-lover ablaze in an Ibadan military barracks after claiming they had sworn never to part.
A man identified as Lawal Faruq has allegedly set his ex-lover, Omolola Hassan, on fire inside a military barracks in Ibadan, Oyo State, after their relationship ended. The incident, which occurred earlier in the week, threw the area into panic as residents rushed to rescue the victim after hearing her cries for help.
It was gathered that the suspect became enraged following the breakup and poured petrol on the woman before igniting her. Counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who shared the story on X, said the suspect confessed that he and the victim had taken an oath never to separate.
“The victim, Omolola Hassan, was reportedly doused with petrol and set on fire by the suspect, who was said to have been angered over the breakdown of their relationship,” Makama stated.
Police spokesperson Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident, adding that “investigation is ongoing.” The victim is receiving treatment for severe burns.
