A Colorado man, Mark Redwine, was sentenced to 48 years in prison for murdering and decapitating his 13-year-old son, Dylan, after the boy found humiliating photos of him.
A Colorado father, Mark Redwine, has been sentenced to 48 years in prison for the 2012 murder and beheading of his 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine.
Prosecutors said Redwine killed his son after the boy discovered explicit photos showing him eating feces from a diaper while dressed in women’s lingerie.
Dylan had been visiting his father for Thanksgiving under a court order when he disappeared in Durango, Colorado.
According to investigators, traces of Dylan’s blood were found in the living room of Redwine’s home, and cadaver dogs indicated a body had been present.
Partial remains were discovered in 2013, with Dylan’s skull later found miles away. Forensic experts determined the boy died from sharp force trauma.
District Attorney Christian Champagne told the court, “He stands before you refusing to accept responsibility, showing no remorse.”
Judge Jeffery Wilson called the evidence “overwhelming,” saying, “You killed your son, a 13-year-old boy. Instead of protecting him, you inflicted enough injury on him to kill him in your living room.”
Redwine, convicted of second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death, continues to maintain his innocence, calling the trial “fake justice.”
