Manchester United are searching for a head of senior recruitment as part of a major overhaul of their scouting department. The role will oversee senior scouts and report to Christopher Vivell, the club’s permanent director of recruitment.

The restructure includes new regional heads of emerging talent across key global markets. United aim to modernise their recruitment strategy by combining human scouting and analytical capabilities with improved data support, following the appointment of Michael Sansoni from Mercedes F1 as director of data.

Sportsology, a consultancy firm, is assisting with senior hires. The changes come as part of a wider drive under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to create a leaner football operation.

United recently reduced their scouting staff significantly, following concerns that the previous figure of 80 was excessive. Around 200 job cuts are expected as part of this second wave of redundancies.

Former scouting director Steve Brown is also set to leave as part of these sweeping backroom changes at Old Trafford.
