Mark, Amaechi unveil new party to challenge APC, PDP

The move follows dissatisfaction with internal party leadership and the search for a credible alternative to the ruling APC.

ABUJA — Former Senate President David Mark and ex-Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi have led key members of the APC and PDP in launching a new political party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), signalling a major realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

The move, driven by the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG), follows dissatisfaction with internal party leadership and the search for a credible alternative to the ruling APC.

On June 19, the NOCG ratified ADA’s name, constitution, and interim leadership. Chief Akin A. Ricketts was appointed Protem Chairman, with Abdullahi Musa Elayo as Protem Secretary.

“The committee… formally approved the establishment of ADA,” the group stated.

Tasked with securing INEC registration and operational readiness, the party plans to present a platform rooted in national unity and democratic accountability.

Analysts view ADA’s formation as a strategic shift that could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape and unify fractured opposition elements disillusioned with both the APC and PDP.
