Michael Cohen, once Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and later a key witness against him, is now asking the former president for a pardon.
In an op-ed published in The Hill, Cohen joined four other convicted Trump critics to argue their clemency requests were unfairly denied by President Biden and should be reconsidered.
“Each of us respectfully requests it of President Trump now, for ourselves and for all those Americans who will need mercy and forgiveness in the future,” the group wrote.
The five claim Biden’s declining cognitive health may have compromised his judgment. “Reports citing Biden’s struggles with memory lapses, confusion during public engagements and limited unscripted interactions have led to growing skepticism about his ability to make impartial, well-reasoned choices,” they stated.
Cohen, who served time for tax and campaign finance violations, was a central witness in Trump’s recent conviction for business fraud. Trump has long denied wrongdoing, blaming Cohen for any illegalities.
The White House declined to comment. All five men—Cohen, Jesse Jackson Jr., Michael Rothenberg, Michael Jones, and Warren Ballentine—have completed their sentences. Their op-ed also criticized Biden’s blanket pardons for allies, including Hunter Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
