The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biographical film, officially titled Michael, will premiere in theaters worldwide on April 24, 2026, according to an announcement from the production.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the project will feature the late singer’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, making his feature film debut in the titular role. The casting ensures a direct family connection to the Jackson legacy at the heart of the project.
The film’s supporting cast includes Colman Domingo as the formidable family patriarch, Joe Jackson, and Nia Long as Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson. Juliano Krue Valdi has been cast to portray a young Michael during his early years.
The studio has confirmed that Michael will chronicle the complex life and legendary career of the King of Pop, tracing his journey from a child prodigy fronting the Jackson 5 to his unprecedented solo success and status as a global cultural icon. The film is also set to feature many of Jackson’s signature hit songs and recreate his iconic performance moments.
Michael will be distributed in the United States by Lionsgate, while Universal Pictures will handle the international release.
