An investigation by The Mail on Sunday has revealed that at least 312 asylum seekers living in UK taxpayer-funded hotels have been charged with 708 alleged crimes over the past three years.
These include rape, sexual assault, robbery, theft, and attacks on emergency workers.
The report found that migrants in just 70 of the 220 hotels accounted for 18 rape charges, 35 sexual assaults, and 51 theft cases. One man was jailed for 12 years for raping a woman in an Oxford churchyard. Another, Sudanese migrant Ayman Adam, was sentenced to seven years for a violent sex attack in Wakefield.
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said, “This shocking Mail investigation lays bare the risk posed by these illegal immigrants to the British public.”
The Home Office stated, “We do not tolerate criminality of any kind and will be thoroughly investigating all the allegations raised in this report.”
Currently, over 32,000 asylum seekers are housed in hotels, costing the UK around £3 billion annually.
