Sources in the military confided in our correspondent that top officers had been redeployed to strengthen ongoing operations.

The Nigerian military has initiated tactical changes in its operations to counter renewed attacks in Plateau, Borno, and other states. Key redeployments include Major General A.E. Abubakar as the new Theatre Commander for Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Borno, replacing Major-General Shuaibu Waidi, and Major-General A.K. Ibrahim as Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy. Sources confirm the adjustments aim to strengthen counterterrorism efforts against Boko Haram and ISWAP. The shake-up follows concerns by Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, who warned of escalating insurgent activities, stating, “Many military locations were dislodged… It seems we are losing ground.”

The changes, effective after Easter, will extend to the Air Force and Navy in coming days. Zulum highlighted recent attacks in Wulgo, Sabongari, and Wajirko, expressing fears of a security relapse. “Peace gradually returned to Borno… but we are witnessing sporadic attacks,” he said. The move underscores the military’s bid to reclaim stability amid growing threats.
