HUMANGLE
In Edo State, Nigeria, a violent mob attack led to the deaths of at least seven northern travelers, with others injured. The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, when vigilantes and local residents in Udune Efandion intercepted a truck carrying 25 travelers from Elele, Rivers State, to Kano for Eid al-Fitr. Suspecting them of being kidnappers, the mob launched an attack, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Survivors recounted how vigilantes ordered them out of the vehicle, seized their belongings, including licensed hunting weapons, and then initiated the assault. Some travelers managed to escape, while others suffered severe beatings. The Edo State Police intervened, rescuing ten individuals, with two hospitalized. Fourteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack, highlighting growing concerns over mob justice and ethnic profiling in Nigeria.
