LAGOS — A woman, Chinwendu Onyeneho, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force after allegedly using a hot electric iron to burn her seven-year-old daughter as punishment for eating meat from the pot.
The disturbing incident occurred Thursday night at No. 11 Oshimyemi Street in Ogba, Lagos, sparking public outrage.
“She asked her daughter to serve meat to her younger brother, but when she noticed the girl ate from it, she plugged an electric iron and used it to burn her,” a neighbour told SaharaReporters.
Witnesses claim Onyeneho tried to silence the child by instructing her to lie about the injuries. The Take-It-Back Movement intervened, prompting her arrest.
ACP Faniyi Abayomi confirmed the case is being handled by the department responsible for juvenile matters.
“We’ve received the complaint… the department handling child welfare is on it,” he said.
