Victoria Mba, mother of 22-year-old Moses, says she turned down N5m after her son was allegedly shot by police guarding the residence of Cross River governor, Bassey Otu.
Moses was shot on August 1 in Calabar after claiming he had a message for the governor. He later died at the Naval Reference Hospital.
“They brought N5m. We rejected it. Is the value of my son’s life N5m? They said it was a condolence visit, but I don’t know where condolence is done with money in that way. I want justice, not money,” Mba said.
The Cross River government denied the allegation, saying the incident occurred at Otu’s former house and claimed Moses had mental health issues.
