Elon Musk admits spending ‘a bit too much time on politics’ after Tesla stock plunge, vowing to refocus on SpaceX and Tesla

Elon Musk acknowledged diverting excessive attention to politics during a SpaceX Starship launch Tuesday, where the rocket failed its payload deployment test. Speaking to Ars Technica’s Eric Berger, Musk said, “I probably did spend a bit too much time on politics,” but emphasized media overstated his involvement.

The admission follows Tesla’s 35% stock drop earlier this year, which rebounded slightly after Musk vowed in April to reduce political engagements. Meanwhile, Starship’s ninth flight reached space but spun out of control during reentry, scrapping critical heat shield tests.

Tesla declined to comment. Analysts suggest Musk’s corporate refocus may steady investor nerves—if SpaceX’s technical hurdles don’t offset gains.
