A mysterious object crash near Area 51 has triggered claims of a government cover-up as officials insist it was a drone accident.
A mysterious object reportedly crashed near Nevada’s secretive Area 51 military base on September 23, sparking intense speculation and claims of a cover-up.
Dreamland Resort operator Joerg Arnu said he was listening to Area 51 radio traffic when “they got very serious, and locked down the base,” adding that security forces reported “an asset go down.” Arnu described a swift military lockdown extending across Tiikaboo Valley and the E.T. Highway, with armed patrols blocking access.
Creech Air Force Base later said the incident involved an “unmanned aircraft” and alleged someone tampered with the site, prompting an FBI investigation. Arnu dismissed the account as false, saying, “That’s absolutely bogus. I think that was designed to discourage people from going there.”
Arnu and others later found a scorched crash site and debris “that came from something other than a drone,” suggesting misdirection by officials. Theories on his website propose the downed craft may have been an advanced AI-controlled drone.
The Air Force has not provided further details, and the crash site remains officially off-limits.
