NAFDAC has sealed two Chinese supermarkets in Jabi and eight cosmetics shops in Wuse Market, Abuja, over unregistered and banned products, with goods worth N170m confiscated.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has sealed two Chinese supermarkets in Jabi District, Abuja, and eight cosmetics shops in Wuse Market for selling unregistered and banned products.

NAFDAC disclosed this in a statement on Friday signed by its Deputy Director of Public Relations, Adegboyega Osiyemi.

“Acting on the directive of the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, the enforcement team confiscated and evacuated offending products worth over N170m,” the agency said.

The operation was led by the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate with members of the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit and Substandard Medicines.

The supermarkets were accused of selling unregistered food items labelled solely in Chinese. At Wuse Market, shops were sealed for marketing banned cosmetics and aphrodisiacs.

Products seized included Wenicks Capsules, Maxman Capsules, Boobs Enlargement, Skin Whitening Vitamin Gummies, Collagen, and Glutathione.
