Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has described former President Obasanjo’s claim about a third-term ambition as a “naked lie,” asserting that “the US stopped his third term,” and warned that Obasanjo “shouldn’t annoy the gods.”

Former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has accused ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo of lying about the events surrounding his alleged third term agenda, claiming the United States helped stop it.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Kalu dismissed Obasanjo’s recent comments in Ghana, describing them as “a naked lie” and “a naked fallacy.” He said, “With due respect to President Obasanjo, what he said in Ghana was false. People like David Mark and Ogheha are still alive.”

Kalu alleged that former Senator Uche Chukwumerije once offered him N50 million to support the third term bid, which he rejected. He further claimed to have informed then U.S. President George W. Bush and South African President Thabo Mbeki about the plan, leading to their intervention.

“Let President Obasanjo not annoy the gods of our land because he wanted a third term and they stopped him,” Kalu warned, crediting the U.S. for defending Nigeria’s democracy.
