“We will agitate for their removal…”— Comrade Olushola Ladoja, NANS President

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for the dismissal of heads of tertiary institutions allegedly involved in the mismanagement of student loan funds disbursed by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja, NANS President, Comrade Olushola Ladoja, condemned reports of deductions, double fee collection, and refusal to refund beneficiaries. He warned: “Any Vice Chancellor, Rector or Provost found withholding student loans… we will agitate for their removal.”

Ladoja disclosed that NELFUND has invited all Student Union Government (SUG) Presidents for a meeting on Thursday to address these issues.

He expressed concern over reports by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) that institutions failed to inform students about disbursements, while still demanding payment.

NELFUND MD Akintunde Sawyerr noted, “These schools allegedly continued demanding payment from the students, leading to confusion and financial strain.”

Ladoja affirmed that NANS would not tolerate acts that undermine the Federal Government’s inclusive education efforts.
