NANS called for an “independent investigation” and immediate prosecution of the officer involved.
ABEOKUTA — The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the killing of a secondary school student by a police officer in Oyo State, calling the act “a grave violation of the sanctity of human life.”
In a statement issued by Comrade Samson Ajasa Adeyemi, NANS’ National Public Relations Officer, the student body extended condolences to the victim’s family, urging authorities to act swiftly.
“No family should have to endure the agony of losing a loved one under such harrowing circumstances,” the statement read.
NANS demanded an independent investigation and the immediate arrest and prosecution of the officer responsible. “Accountability is non-negotiable, and we will not accept anything less,” Adeyemi stressed.
They also urged Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure justice is served and to take proactive measures to prevent civil unrest.
While calling for calm, NANS reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of students’ rights, safety, and dignity, vowing to pursue justice to the fullest.
