Napoli have signed Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United on loan with an option to buy for €50m, the club confirmed late on transfer deadline day.
The 22-year-old striker arrived in Italy over the weekend for medical tests before signing the contract on Friday evening. Napoli will pay €6m for the one-year loan, with an additional €44m to make the deal permanent if they qualify for the Champions League.
Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis officially announced the deal. The move comes after Romelu Lukaku suffered a thigh injury that will sideline him for up to four months.
Hojlund returns to Serie A two years after his breakthrough season with Atalanta. He joined Manchester United in 2023 for €77.8m and scored 26 goals in 95 appearances.
The Denmark international, capped 26 times, will look to rediscover his form in Naples as the club pushes for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
