Nasarawa police say reports of two pupils being kidnapped from St. Peter’s Academy were false, explaining the children fled after seeing hunters with dane guns and mistook them for abductors.
The Nasarawa State Police Command has debunked claims that two pupils of St. Peter’s Academy, Rukubi, were abducted on Thursday, clarifying that the children ran off after sighting hunters carrying dane guns and wrongly assuming they were kidnappers.
According to Zagazola Makama, security personnel deployed to the school later found the pupils unharmed, while the proprietor confirmed the alarm “was raised in error and that no abduction occurred.”
Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel urged the public to disregard the rumour and called on the media to verify sensitive information before publication to avoid causing unnecessary panic, adding that security officials continue to monitor the area.
