Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan will resume legislative duties in the Senate on Tuesday, following a court order that overturned her suspension.

In a video shared on social media Sunday, the Kogi Central senator expressed gratitude to her supporters. “I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God,” she said.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday declared her six-month suspension unconstitutional. Justice Binta Nyako ruled it violated her constituents’ right to representation, adding that it lacked constitutional backing.

The court also found Akpoti-Uduaghan guilty of contempt over a Facebook post that breached an interim order barring public comments. She was fined ₦5 million.

Her suspension followed a rowdy March plenary. Days later, she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

Justice Nyako emphasized that extended suspensions without due process undermine democracy and urged the Senate to reform its disciplinary procedures.
