FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver and political podcaster Galen Druke identified Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as their top draft pick for the Democratic Party’s next presidential nominee

FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver and podcaster Galen Druke have named Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez their top pick for the next Democratic presidential nominee.

In a video on Silver’s website Wednesday, Druke selected AOC first, prompting Silver to exclaim, “F— you! That was going to be my f—ing first pick!”

Both cited her favorable polling and progressive credentials. “She has very fervent support,” said Druke, adding, “the media is kind of obsessed with her.”

Silver agreed: “Because of some of the polling, because she has this kind of progressive lane — probably not to herself, because she is younger and media savvy.”

Silver noted AOC polls ahead of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer among New York Democrats, though questioned if the 39-year-old would run in 2028.
