NATO allies have pledged new military support for Ukraine, including thousands of drones and $100 million in aid, ahead of President Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington.
NATO allies are stepping up military aid to Ukraine ahead of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced fresh arms support at a NATO defense ministers’ summit in Brussels, urging member nations to turn the alliance’s 5% defense spending increase into “tangible action.”
“Ukraine remains central to NATO’s strategy in deterring aggression,” Hegseth said.
The United Kingdom confirmed it has supplied about 85,000 drones to Ukraine in the past six months, while the Netherlands pledged $100 million to boost drone operations.
U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker warned that “the world has never been more dangerous,” calling for unity in strengthening Europe’s air defenses amid rising Russian incursions.
The European Union is also expected to unveil its drone defense strategy on Thursday.
