“It is no longer a six-month issue. It is until whenever investigations into this matter have been concluded.”
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says the travel ban on Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, known as KWAM 1, will remain indefinitely until investigations into a flight incident are concluded.
On August 7, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo ordered a six-month no-fly list placement, warning airlines to comply or risk losing licences. However, NCAA spokesperson Mike Achimugu told TVC, “It is no longer a six-month issue. It is until whenever investigations into this matter have been concluded.”
Preliminary findings indicate KWAM 1 passed initial security checks and accessed the VIP lounge, where he obtained water. At boarding, security found the liquid and asked him to step aside. Achimugu said the singer allegedly refused and approached the aircraft. In attempting to prove the water harmless, he splashed some, which hit the pilot, who then shut the plane’s door.
Achimugu stressed the account is preliminary, adding the NCAA has involved the attorney-general and police, and will publish findings after the probe.
