NDLEA arrests Lagos hotelier, seizes 1,762kg cannabis; multi-state operations recover skunk, methamphetamine, tramadol, with multiple suspects taken into custody.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted drug baron posing as a businessman and hotelier in Lagos. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the 42-year-old MD/CEO of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig Ltd. was apprehended at Daisy Garden Hotel, Isolo, after weeks of intelligence and surveillance.
“Operatives recovered 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of Loud cannabis weighing 1,762.8kg, as well as cash in multiple currencies including $11,600 and £2,000,” Mr Babafemi said.
The agency also intercepted a syndicate in Osun, seizing 11,135kg of processed skunk and arresting seven suspects. Additional seizures included skunk and methamphetamine in Edo, Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kwara, and Lagos states, as well as 396,000 tramadol capsules at Yola airport.
Mr Babafemi said NDLEA is committed to dismantling drug networks nationwide: “We remain resolute in our fight against illicit drugs across Nigeria.”
