“The internet is not above the law,” says Nwoko as he moves to sue influencer Timothy Gabriel over damaging allegations.
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has initiated legal action against social media influencer Timothy Gabriel, alias Tuma, over what he described as defamatory and misleading allegations against him and his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
In a statement issued by the Ned Nwoko Media Directorate, the lawmaker said Gabriel had dared them to respond to his accusations and publicly invited legal action—”a challenge that has now been accepted.”
“We have taken full notice of the vile, reckless, and malicious statements made by one Timothy Gabriel… The internet is not above the law,” Nwoko said.
He accused Gabriel of spreading slanderous claims about paternity and morality with intent to incite and defame. Nwoko said both criminal and civil suits are being prepared, backed by what he called overwhelming evidence.
“The real trouble has only just begun and it will not be fought on social media, but in court,” he warned, adding that defamation is not a form of activism.
