New Hampshire judge halts enforcement of Trump’s birthright citizenship order

A federal judge has moved to block President Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship, saying a full class of affected children will be protected.

A federal judge in New Hampshire on Thursday said he will certify a class action lawsuit covering all children affected by President Donald Trump’s order ending birthright citizenship.

Judge Joseph LaPlante announced after a hearing that a preliminary injunction will block the order. “A written order will follow,” he said, adding it will include a seven-day stay for appeal.
