A 20-year-old woman found dead with 26 iPhones glued to her body has sparked a smuggling investigation in Brazil. The woman fell ill aboard a bus in Guarapuava, Paraná, on July 29, and suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite 45 minutes of resuscitation efforts, she died.

Post-mortem examinations revealed dozens of phones affixed to her body and various goods hidden in her luggage. Authorities now suspect she was involved in illicit trafficking. “The Paraná Civil Police are investigating the case and awaiting the conclusion of forensic reports to clarify the cause of death,” a police statement read.

She was reportedly traveling alone from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo. Her identity has not yet been released.

Although no drugs were detected by sniffer dogs, police said the 26 phones have been sent to the Federal Revenue Service. Reports also noted symptoms resembling a seizure and respiratory distress before her death. Her body was transported to the Forensic Medical Institute for further analysis.
