Newcastle United are exploring a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Newcastle United have revived interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko amid growing uncertainty over Alexander Isak’s future, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Isak, who is attracting interest from Liverpool, has reportedly informed Newcastle of his desire to leave and was excluded from the squad’s tour of Asia. While the club insists Isak is not for sale, they are weighing up potential replacements.
Romano revealed that Newcastle have enquired about Sesko’s availability, with a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place between the player and Leipzig that could reduce his €70–80 million fee plus add-ons for select clubs.
The Magpies are also in talks with Brentford over Yoane Wissa after an initial £25m bid was rejected. Despite pursuing a forward even before Isak’s stance became known, Sesko’s signing may hinge on the Swede’s departure.
Liverpool are expected to submit a new bid, while Al-Hilal have also shown interest—though Isak is said to be uninterested in a Saudi move.
