Newcastle United have signed Brentford striker Yoane Wissa in a £50 million deal, handing him the club’s iconic No 9 shirt as part of their summer rebuild.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Yoane Wissa from Brentford in a £50 million deal, with an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons. The 27-year-old forward completed his medical on Tyneside after Brentford rejected two earlier bids, including an opening offer of £25 million.

“Brentford striker Yoane Wissa has completed his medical ahead of a £50 million transfer to Newcastle United, with a further £5 million agreed in potential add-ons,” Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reported.

Wissa is expected to inherit Newcastle’s iconic No 9 shirt following the departures of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson earlier this summer. His arrival comes as part of a wider attacking overhaul, which also saw German striker Nick Woltemade join for £69 million.

“The combined fees for their replacements, Woltemade and Wissa, amount to the exact sum Liverpool paid Newcastle for Isak, underlining the club’s strategic reinvestment,” Downie added.

The deal signals Newcastle’s intent to strengthen for the new Premier League season.
